James W Wright Journalism Award
Guidelines
The James W. Wright Excellence in journalism award is presented to an individual or organization from the media that has cast the fire service or EMS in a favorable light. Media by our definition consists of print, television, photojournalism, radio, or internet. This could be in a single instance or through a pattern or series of submissions.
A letter should be submitted by a member of CNYFA with the reasons the Applicant(s) are to be considered. For example: reporting on difficult accidents, saving a citizen from a fire, fire prevention, or recognition of the fire service. These are only a few examples, and other reasons will be considered.
Letters are due to the CNYFA’s secretary by March 1st for actions to be considered in the previous year.
This award shall only be presented if a submission is considered and accepted by the committee but does not need to be awarded annually.
Awards should be presented at the annual convention or at the next scheduled meeting where the awardee(s) is available and shall consist of a plaque. The award winner and one guest will be our guest for lunch no matter how many award recipients there are.
